Paul Girardi, DO is a member of Summit Health’s Internal Medicine and Urgent Careok teams. Board-certified in internal medicine and emergency medicine, Dr. Girardi provides primary care to adult patients and treats emergent conditions in patients of all ages. In addition, his interests include improving health literacy among patient populations and impeding disease through preventive care.

Mindful of the vulnerability that comes with health issues, Dr. Girardi emphasizes building trusting relationships with his patients and treating them like family. He also believes that knowledge is empowerment and ensures patients are fully informed of their condition and treatment options. “I want my patients to feel that we are part of a team and that in working together, we can take care of any health issue or concern they may have,” he says.

Dr. Girardi found role models in doctors and nurses he interacted with through childhood. Combined with his lifelong desire to help others, the impression they made paved his career path. “They showed me how health care professionals can make a truly meaningful difference in their patients’ lives,” he says, adding, “It is an honor to hold the trust of my patients in matters as important as their health and well-being.”

Dr. Girardi enjoys spending time with his family and friends when he’s not seeing patients, and as a native New Jerseyan, he takes advantage of the state’s seasonal activities: skiing in winter, visiting the shore in summer, and hiking and exercising regularly year-round. In addition, reading is his longtime solo hobby, with various genres lining his bookshelf. “There’s something to be said for disappearing for a bit and curling up with a good book somewhere,” he says.
