About 100,000 women each year in the U.S. will be diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer. The most common gyn cancer is endometrial cancer, which is typically found in early stage and is highly curable. Ovarian cancer, which is usually not detected until it has advanced, is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in women, but new medications that are designed to target specific molecular structures are offering hope to women with advanced ovarian cancer.

Our GYN oncology program treats women from throughout the Denver metro area, Northern Colorado and the eastern plains of Colorado. Care at our clinic is provided by a board-certified gynecologic oncology physician. This type of physician is an OB/GYN who has completed 3 years of additional subspecialty fellowship training in treating gynecologic cancers and has passed rigorous practice criteria and exams. We perform GYN surgery, including minimally invasive surgery using the DaVinci robot and radical hysterectomies, at Porter Hospital, with additional cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy provided by the Porter Cancer Center. Genetic counseling and testing also is available at Porter.
