David DeBoer, MD, MS

David K DeBoer, MD, is a board-certified joint replacement surgeon serving the communities in middle and west Tennessee with offices in Nashville and Union City. Dr. DeBoer takes an integrative approach to health and wellness, working alongside patients to ensure that the surgical option they decide and the recovery process best suit their unique needs. 

Dr. DeBoer holds two degrees from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee: a medical degree and a master's degree in biomedical engineering. After graduating, he went on to pursue residency training in orthopedic surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center, and a fellowship under Dr. Michael Christie in 1996. 

Dr. DeBoer co-founded the Southern Joint Replacement Institute along with Dr. Christie in 1999, before pursuing his private practice. In addition, he is the joint replacement research program director for Sarah Cannon Research Institute. His research is primarily focused on clinical outcomes of joint replacement surgery, and the biomechanics of the hip and knee joints. 

He is also the chairman of the Clinical Best Practice Committee on joint replacement surgery for 180 hospitals in the HCA network.

Dr. DeBoer has been offering outpatient specialist surgery since 2017, and can discuss same-day surgery during your initial consultation. He also uses minimally invasive surgery techniques whenever possible and can perform joint replacement on an outpatient basis.
