Newtown TMS: John Woodall, MD

Former faculty at Harvard Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry, Dr. John Woodall is the Founder and Medical Director of Newtown TMS. For those 21 years old and over living in the area surrounding Newtown, Connecticut, Dr. Woodall provides comprehensive and effective mental health care. 

With over 35 years of clinical experience, Dr. Woodall believes that medication is not the only approach for mental health care. His unique “Full Circle Care” model looks at seven different areas of a person’s life that, if cared for, lead to optimal mental health, and if ignored, result in problems with mental health.

Newtown TMS offers a full-suite of comprehensive services for conditions such as Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Insomnia, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Anxiety, as well as guiding patients with Medication Management. 

The practice has a central focus on TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation). TMS is a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate “stuck” neural circuits in the brain that cause Depression, Anxiety, OCD, and PTSD symptoms. TMS “wakes up” these stuck neural circuits to successfully treat these conditions when medication has failed.

Newtown TMS accepts most major insurances, including Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna (HealthSpring), ConnectiCare, Tricare, Tufts Health Plan, and United Healthcare (Oxford). However, the practice doesn’t accept Medicare or Husky.
