Johnny Y. Shum, D.O.

"Dr. Shum has been interested in serving underserved populations since medical school. This interest in health care disparities led him to spend time at several federally qualified community health centers in and around South Florida. There, he learned how important patient advocacy, coordination of care, communication, and cultural competency can influence patient outcomes. This interest continued throughout his time at UW Medicine | Valley Medical Center where he completed his residency in family medicine and practiced medicine for 7 years before joining Swedish Sand Point Primary Care. Dr. Shum practices full spectrum family medicine and has a special interest in serving the LGBTQ+ community, pediatrics, dermatology, and men’s health. In his free time, he enjoys working on & restoring his 100+ year old home, gardening, baking, and spending time with close friends and family."
