Dr. Thompson is one of the first interventional cardiologists in Lake Charles specializing in minimally invasive valve replacement called Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) with the Edwards SAPIEN 3 valve. This procedure is approved for use in patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis.

Dr. Thompson is also certified to use the 360 Coronary Orbital Atherectomy System. The OAS is a device used for the treatment of a severely calcified narrowing of a coronary artery. The OAS is a system intended to facilitate stent delivery. The System is used in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) who are acceptable candidates stenting due to severely calcified coronary artery lesions that have not been previously treated.
