Richard Heppe, MD

Prior to joining TUCC, Richard K. Heppe, M.D., practiced with Colorado Urology Associates and Sargent and Heppe Urology. He has served as past chief of urology section for Swedish Medical Center and Porter Memorial Hospital, chairman of the department of surgery for Swedish Hospital and chairman of the Swedish Hospital Quality Management Committee. From 2003-2005, Dr. Heppe served as president of the Rocky Mountain Urologic Society, which is Colorado’s official urologic society. He currently serves as president of TUCC Foundation and is a past member of the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners Committee on Anticompetitive Conduct. Dr. Heppe is a member of the American Urological Association, Colorado Medical Society, Denver Medical Society and the Rocky Mountain Urologic Society. Active in the community, Dr. Heppe served as president of the Denver Southeast Rotary Club from 2010 – 2011.

Dr. Heppe received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and obtained his medical doctorate from the Medical College of Virginia. He then completed an internship in general surgery, along with his residency training in general surgery and urology, at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Heppe is board certified by the American Board of Urology.

As a clinical instructor with the Swedish Hospital Family Medicine Residency program and past clinical instructor in the department of surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Dr. Heppe trains and educates future physicians in addition to his work at TUCC. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys. He also plays tennis and golf and enjoys skiing, hiking, biking and furniture making.

Dr. Heppe was recognized as a 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Top Doc by 5280 Magazine in the category of reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
