Dr. Kirschner received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1978. He received his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York in 1985 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center.
