Safe 1 Credit Union (Oak Street)

In 1952, a group state employees met for the purpose of forming a financial cooperative for co-workers and their families. From these beginnings, Safe 1 Credit Union was founded. The first Safe 1 "office" was actually a room located in the home of our first manager, with transaction receipts kept in a closet. By the end of our first month, Safe 1 had seven individuals banking with us and just over $300 in assets. A lot has changed over the years. However, our commitment to serving the citizens of the southern San Joaquin Valley remains the same. That's why more than 76,000 individuals representing more than $860 million in assets choose to bank with us.
