Rachel Thurneyssen, NP - Nurse Practitioner

Rachel Thurneyssen, MSN, APRN, FNP-C is a passionate family medicine nurse practitioner at Cornerstar Primary Care. She is dedicated to fostering relationships with patients and their families in order to individualize care through shared decision making while abiding my evidenced-based practices. Integrating health promotion in each encounter is essential to Rachel who believes that prevention is paramount. As a nurse practitioner, she is enthusiastic about educating her patients, developing trust and partnership in health promotion and disease management in conjunction with colleagues and specialists. Rachel is enthusiastic about nurse practitioner professional development and enjoys precepting students. She is honored to work as a nurse practitioner, serving her patients and community through Centura.

Rachel earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ashland University. During her undergraduate education, she formed an immense appreciation for community-based care and outreach, going on medical mission trips to South Africa and Nicaragua. Her experience, working with nurse practitioners and physicians on these trips, inspired her to attend graduate school. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Ohio University. She has since been board certified as a family nurse practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Practicing what she promotes to patients is incredibly important to Rachel, who is committed to personal wellness-physically, mentally, and spiritually. She lives an active lifestyle, relishing all Colorado has to offer. She and her husband can be found on their free time hiking, cycling, skiing, and camping. She is a certified yoga instructor and strives to integrate its practices and principles in both her personal and professional life.
