James A. Reiffel, MD, FACC, FAHA, FHRS, FACP is a Professor Emeritus of Medicine and Special Lecturer at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Attending Physician Emeritus at NY Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Reiffel specializes in cardiac arrhythmic disorders, including atrial fibrillation. At the Columbia University Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Reiffel has remained involved in teaching and research since retiring from his private consultative practice. Dr. Reiffel is currently on the steering committee of several major multicenter clinical trials and registries (and serves/has served as national PI for several); is a member of the planning committee of the national Cardiac Safety Research Consortium that consults regularly with the FDA; and continues to play an active consultant role in the development of new antiarrhythmic and anticoagulant drugs and devices.
