Megha M. Kothari, MD

Megha Kothari,MD, is ahepatologist and gastroenterologist and an assistant director of hepatology atNewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. She is also the director ofwomen’s health at the hospital.

Dr. Kotharitreats patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, includingceliac disease, motility disease, GERD, andirritable bowel syndrome. Shealso sees patients for constipation, abdominal pain, swallowing disorders, andhemorrhoids. Additionally, she treats patients with colon cancer,hepatitisB and C, and liver disease.

Dr. Kothari is amember of several organizations including the American College ofGastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and theAmerican Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. She has a clinical interest inendoscopy and women’s digestive health and has published research on coloncancer, ulcerative colitis, and pancreatitis.

After graduatingfrom St. George’s University School of Medicine, Dr. Kothari served herinternship in internal medicine at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health Systemand completed her fellowship in gastroenterology at SUNY Downstate MedicalCenter in Brooklyn. She returned to North Shore-Long Island Jewish HealthSystem for her fellowship training in gastroenterology with a focus on women’shealth and liver disease. Dr. Kothari is fluent in English, Gujarati, andHindi.
