Laura Salcedo

Laura Salcedo, LCSW is a member of Summit Health's Behavioral Health and Cognitive Therapy Center team. Ms. Salcedo provides psychotherapy to patients dealing with mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD (attention deficit disorder), low self-esteem, school or work stress, family challenges, or any other stressors that may be affecting them on a daily basis. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy to help patients understand their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, as well as to help them improve their mood and ability to cope with life's challenges. “I find joy in providing my patients with a safe space full of validation to help them unleash their potential, and I truly enjoy witnessing their resilience as they overcome hardships,” says Ms. Salcedo.

Ms. Salcedo’s experience includes treating children and teens in a partial hospitalization setting and children and adults in outpatient settings. She follows the philosophy of Canadian physician and one of the four founding professors of Johns Hopkins Hospital Sir William Osler who said, “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.”

Coming from a Hispanic background, advocating for health care access is especially important to Ms. Salcedo. She is also passionate about minimizing mental health stigma and engaging people of all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds to seek regular medical and mental health care by providing education and making them feel safe and comfortable.

When not working with patients, Ms. Salcedo enjoys game nights, movie nights, and eating with friends and family. She also enjoys crafting.
