Hair Doc: Peter Panagotacos, MD

At Hair Doc, a hair restoration practice in Cow Hollow, San Francisco, California, double board-certified dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon Peter Panagotacos, MD, helps patients make major strides in hair growth after diseases and injuries or because of hereditary hair loss. Dr. Panagotacos has over 40 years of experience in surgical and medical treatments and is a highly respected specialist in his field. 
Dr. Panagotacos earned his medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, in 1968. He completed an internship at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, California, before moving to New Orleans, Louisiana, for his dermatology residency training at Louisiana State University Charity Hospital. 
Before opening his private dermatology practice in 1974, Dr. Panagotacos served as a dermatologist in the United States Army with the distinction of being the final doctor drafted for the Vietnam War. Since then, he has treated countless patients and has taught as an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California in San Francisco (UCSF). 
Dr. Panagotacos is the head of dermatology at St. Mary’s Medical Center and lectures nationally and internationally on hair transplantation. He’s board-certified by the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
At Hair Doc, Dr. Panagotacos offers a diverse range of treatments and services for hair loss. He assesses each patient before building an individualized treatment plan that may include follicular unit extraction (FUE) using the first ARTAS® iX robotic hair transplant system on the West Coast, follicular unit transplantation (FUT), platelet-rich plasma injections, laser caps, or prescriptions, such as for minoxidil and finasteride. 
While Dr. Panagotacos dedicates the majority of his time to his patients at Hair Doc, he also maintains a private estate in Greece where his family produces Lykovouno Olive Oil.
