She then attended medical school at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and earned her degree with honors in research. She remained in the area to complete internship training at the University of Chicago NorthShore Health System.
Dr. Jayaram completed an ophthalmology residency at Northwestern University. Her training included all types of eye care and surgeries, including comprehensive eye exams, cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, and laser treatments. 
Afterward, she completed an intensive fellowship in eyelid surgery at Tufts Medical Center New England Eye Center, which encompassed facial trauma, cosmetic procedures, cancerous lesion management, tearing procedures, droopy lid surgery, facial injectables, and laser therapy.
