Piotr Sowa

Piotr Sowa, MD is a Summit Health gastroenterologist who specializes in advanced endoscopy utilizing minimally invasive techniques to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), achalasia, and pancreatic and biliary tract disorders. He is proficient in advanced procedures like transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF), peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Barrett’s ablation.

Dr. Sowa is also skilled in the removal of difficult and large colonic polyps. His research has been focused on treatment of pancreatic cancers as well as GERD, and he has authored numerous publications.

Dr. Sowa earned his medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital which included a year as chief resident. He completed general gastroenterology and advanced gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California Irvine in Orange, CA.
