Soma Susan Johnkutty, MD

From a very young age, I knew I wanted to be a pediatrician. I believe that it is my calling in life. I love children and developing relationships with their families. Pediatricians see families through the good and bad times and have to know to connect with their families during those times. Also, I find it very fun! In what other job can anyone walk in with toys or books, dress up as superheroes or princesses, play with the kids, and make them laugh? I feel blessed and thankful that I get to do what I love everyday. My approach to patient care is to treat all patients and families with respect and understanding. I believe it is so important to the parent as well as the child to really feel heard and understood. As a pediatrician, I believe it is of primary importance to advocate for the child as well as to communicate and educate effectively to ensure the best quality of care for the child. I see the relationship between myself, the parent and the child as a partnership, and mutual trust is essential. Ultimately our goals are the same, to help ensure a healthy and happy child. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my favorite people, my energetic, fun, loving two children. They keep me very busy and entertained. I also like to run, do yoga, hike, read, attend concerts and plays, volunteer, and spend time with friends.
