After being an inpatient nurse for four years, I wanted to provide healthcare more independently. I worked in critical care and often saw patients with end-stage chronic disease. I became a nurse practitioner because I want to make a difference in my patients health, hopefully reducing hospital stays and improving quality of life. The key is forming a partnership with the patient. I believe patients must first understand the benefit of taking better care of themselves. My role is to provide the necessary education, resources and motivation so that patients and families can be successful in reaching their health goals. When I am not working, I enjoy listening to music, animals, baking, swimming, kayaking and watching my son play soccer.
