Alicen Mary Gillis, NP

As long as I can remember, I have had an extreme passion for caring for others. Working as a registered nurse for several years in the critical care setting, I yearned to steer my focus to preventive care in order to keep patients out of the hospital setting. Returning to school to complete my nurse practitioner degree in primary care was such a rewarding time and certainly was the best decision for my career. I have a love for medicine and enjoy the challenge of caring for multiple chronic illnesses. My goal is help all patients maximize their quality of life and to provide much-needed motivation for patients to reach all health goals. My clinical areas of special interest include mental health, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and smoking cessation. My approach to care is to make sure the patient feels part of the visit. I do this by encouraging the patient to have shared decision-making when developing the plan of care during the visit. My priority is making sure the patient has a good understanding of their health and ensuring I provide the most up-to-date preventive measures and therapies. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, attending sporting events, and learning new recipes.
