My interest in healthcare began in childhood. I would pretend to take care of sick patients, which were usually sisters or cousins willing to play the role. I found satisfaction in helping others feel better. I started my career as a nurse and later returned to school to become a nurse practitioner. My approach to patient care starts with active listening. I try to understand how a condition is interfering with one's quality of life and what measures are necessary to improve it. I believe in a collaborative treatment style between the patient and health care team to create a solution that is individualized. Outside of work, I enjoy time with my family, walks with my dog, and playing the ukulele, piano or banjo.
