I decided to become a Family Nurse Practitioner because ever since I was a little girl, I was always fascinated by the idea of helping others. I get stimulation and satisfaction from being part of peoples path to a healthier future. Being a Family Nurse Practitioner expands my ability to take care of the entire family, from birth to death. I cannot imagine a greater fulfillment than that in a job. I like providing patients with the autonomy of decision making and giving them the choice of becoming active participants in their care. I believe patients can make a much more positive turn to recovery when they are given an opportunity to make decisions and set goals in their plan of care. I enjoy seeing entire families but especially love spending time with elderly. I fell in love with this patient population back when I used to work in an assisted living facility. Outside of work, together with my family, I enjoy traveling, hiking in the mountains and exploring the great outdoors.
