Shannon began caring for ICU patients right after becoming a nurse. The more she got to know her patients, the more she wanted to help keep them healthy and out of the hospital, so she became a nurse practitioner. She chose internal medicine, specializing in adult and geriatric care, feeling those were the patients she could have the greatest impact on, helping them lead healthier lives. Shannon lives in Fort Worth with her husband, also a nurse, and their beautiful daughter.
