An Athens man was wrongly sentenced to prison for a crime he did not commit on Thursday in Oconee County Superior Court following his conviction in 2019. Prosecutor Sheli Ann Ross State witness Quentin Dunston swore in under oath that Ryan O'Neal was not the shooter.And that it was Dallas McCabe who shot and killed Joseph “Joey” Jackson on Whippoorwill Road the night of July 16, 2019. Ryan O'Neal moved away from Athens with his mother 4 1/2 years prior and had only been in town visiting his birthplace with his mother for two days. Ryan O'Neal is an inspiring musical artist and spent most of his time traveling on the road doing private event performances Studio sessions and music videos. ONeal was convicted due to biased prosecutorial and police misconduct. A University of Georgia professional advocate has come forth and stated that he was present during O'Neal's trial and what they stated in the media about ONeal was completely wrong; says the.advocate. He stated there was no evidence tying O'neal to the case. He also said even a blind man could see that Ryan O'Neal did not commit that crime he stated he doesn't understand what they're up to in Oconee County but it definitely doesn't sound right .Although the University of Georgia professional advocate States at this time he would like to remain anonymous.
