First Command Financial Advisor - Joe Sheehan

Joe Sheehan joined First Command Financial Services as a Financial Advisor in 2012. Originally from Delta Junction, Alaska, Joe served over 23 years in the U.S. Army before completing his last assignment at Fort Wainwright in 2003 as the Inspector General for Alaska. He then served as a federal contractor and in federal civil service, as well as in various program project management, national security and private industry roles.

Joe holds Series 6, 63 and 65 securities licenses as well as Alaska life and health insurance licenses. He has earned both a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Business.

Joe advocates time-tested financial principles, including disciplined, long-term saving and investing, careful debt management, and a thoughtful insurance strategy to manage financial risk. Through a values-centered approach to financial planning and a client-first philosophy, Joe is committed to helping his clients plan confidently for the future and to accompanying them on their financial journey. Having witnessed the difficulties resulting from inadequate financial planning or the loss of a family member, Joe is committed to helping and coaching others to prepare for their financial security. Joe serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the National Association of Uniformed Services (NAUS) and the Northern Alaska Military Retiree Council (serving multiple times as chairman). He also volunteers his time working with other organizations in support of our military, veterans and families, as well as in support of the Fairbanks community.

An avid outdoorsman, Joe enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, birddog training and mountain climbing. He has been married to Mary Sheehan, also from Delta, for over 33 years.
