As a daughter of a World War II veteran and a stay at home mom I was taught the importance of family. When my dad became ill several years ago, I could feel the powerlessness. All I wanted to do was to support him emotionally, spend time talking and enjoy his jokes!. This experience gave me first hand knowledge that trying to orchestrate his medical care and maintain my daughter role was challenging to state it mildly. The medical maze enveloped much of my time. Sadly he passed away in 2011.

Through my personal journey of grief and professional growth I discovered healthcare advocacy. I chose the word anchor which means “to secure firmly” and “hold onto when you feel overwhelmed.” Anchor Healthcare Advocates will listen with intention, communicate compassionately and create an ease and comfort to chart a clear course in an often complicated health system.
