Many of my patients are afflicted by common chronic illnesses: high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, heart disease, substance abuse. These conditions can be helped by medicine or procedures, but they also provide opportunities to improve lifestyle and I try to emphasize those aspects of health, and work to partner with patients because I truly believe patients receive the greatest value from healthcare when they are fully engaged in understanding their conditions and treatments and are active in caring for themselves
