Rick Windle, MD, is a seasoned general surgeon offering exceptional surgical care to patients in Lincoln, Nebraska. He leads Surgical Care PC and provides expert services that include acid reflux surgery, gallbladder surgery, breast cancer surgery, colon surgery, hernia surgery, and more.
Dr. Windle received his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering before pursuing medical school. He made use of his engineering degree by embracing new technology that benefits our patients. His commitment to technology and its advantages for patients started with his experience using lasers in surgery. Dr. Windle has been a faculty member of Surgical Laser Technologies, teaching other surgeons and presenting at the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, of which he was a longstanding member. Additionally, with the advent of laparoscopic or band-aid surgery, he has worked with the pioneers of this technology, traveling across the United States to hone his skills and teach others collaboratively.
Furthermore, Dr. Windle has served on the advisory board for Stryker Systems, a primary developer and laparoscopic equipment manufacturer. Looking to other new technologies, he has trained in robotic surgical skills since 2010. Dr. Windle does single-incision gallbladder removal. His breast surgery expertise earned him a place on the faculty of Ethicon Endo-Surgery, where he taught other surgeons surgical techniques. Dr. Windle was the first surgeon in Nebraska to certify in breast ultrasound and has re-certified this skill with the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Dr. Windle is also the founder and director of the Comprehensive Breast Care Center, which serves Lincoln and Southeast Nebraska. At the Comprehensive Breast Care Center, he introduced the ATEC system. The ATEC system is a straightforward way to remove breast problems seen on ultrasound under local anesthesia in just minutes through a 1/8th inch incision.
Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Windle, and his family returned to Lincoln because of the people of Nebraska and the excellent schools. He has been practicing in Lincoln since 1981. His wife, Susie, has a Master’s in Social Work and consults with children and families through her practice, Kids Are For Keeps. They have two sons, Jesse and Bub. Family time is his #1 hobby.
