Phyllis Schaffer-Cohen

Phyllis Schaffer-Cohen, AuD, F-AAA is a member of Summit Health's Audiology team. Dr. Schaffer-Cohen’s expertise is in evaluating and managing hearing disorders. She works with patients of all ages, from young children to the elderly.

Dr. Schaffer-Cohen chose audiology because hearing is a fundamental part of keeping people connected. She's primarily interested in amplification, such as hearing aids and assistive listening devices, and in aural rehabilitation in the geriatric population—training those with hearing impairment to listen again.

It is important to Dr. Schaffer-Cohen that her patients leave their appointments with more information than they came in with, along with possible solutions to their issues . "Patients never come to the office for just a casual chat," Says Dr. Schaffer-Cohen. “Their concerns are my concerns. They need to feel comfortable with our evaluations and going into an unfamiliar environment. And most importantly, they need to be unafraid of the process and the outcome," she adds.

When she's not helping patients, Dr. Schaffer-Cohen likes to read, knit, and take walks. She's also a yoga instructor.
