I believe the most important thing a client should know about their financial advisor is his or her philosophy, the reasoning behind the recommendations. These recommendations should be delivered as advice. That’s evidence based strategies that can be independently verified.

I believe a well-structured plan must include proper protections. In 20 years, I have never met a person that wants to go backwards in their life or their finances. Protecting your most valuable assets, including your earned and unearned income is critical for building the foundation for a long-term plan. A strong foundation allows you to now build from a position of strength.

I believe that RISK is as important of a variable when planning as rate of return. For those in retirement and taking income it can be of even greater importance. Creating an investment strategy using multiple levels of diversification can help lessen the impacts of the market’s ups and downs and help support sustainable income.

I believe growth is not just about your money, it’s about your life and how you chose to allocate your most precious asset – time. It’s not about perfection, but the path we follow when we pursue excellence. That path may be for our physical or spiritual health, it may be for our strength in relationships, sense of family or community or the pursuit of a passion.
