Israr Siddiqi, MD - Beacon Medical Group Sleep Medicine

Meet Dr. Israr Siddiqi. Although he developed an interest in biology when he was in high school, he was inspired by several family members – also physicians – to become a doctor himself. He chose to specialize in sleep disorders because they are often underdiagnosed and can have serious health consequences if left untreated.

Dr. Siddiqi chose to practice at Beacon because of its physician-friendly leadership. “They understand the needs of the community,” he explains. “In addition, we have an excellent group of physicians who are very helpful and collegial.”

That level of commitment is reflective of his own philosophy and key to Dr. Siddiqi’s practice. “I listen to my patients as much as I talk. I encourage them to take charge of their health and become a partner more than a patient.” He believes in keeping the channels of communication open and understands that every patient is unique with individualized needs. “You have to look at the whole picture instead of compartmentalizing the illness.”

Dr. Siddiqi received his Bachelor of Medicine from Sindh Medical College, University of Karachi. He is board certified in Sleep Medicine.

In his own words…

Who is or was the most influential person/role model in your life? My father. He was an honest and hardworking person. I learned work ethics from him.

What was your first job growing up? I always had an entrepreneur mentality. I sold toys at a stall and made few bucks!

What is your favorite food? My favorite food is seafood.

What were your best/worst subjects in school growing up? Biology was my best subject. Physics was my worst.

If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? President Obama. I think he is a smart person.

In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? Playing golf, travel and reading books.

What is something most people don’t know about you? I am an avid stamp collector.
