Kristine Weldy, NP

Nurse Practitioner Kristine Weldy became fascinated with healthcare at age 10, when she had a tumor removed from her neck. During her month-long stay at Elkhart General Hospital, she decided that one day, she would work there. As fate would have it, Kristine was offered a position on the pediatric unit and worked there for almost eight years.

Kristine chose to transition to a becoming a family nurse practitioner because her passion lies in pediatrics. In this role, she enjoys bonding with families and their growing children.

"I feel a sense of gratification when a patient looks me in the eye and thanks for helping them," she said. "I love the relationships that I form with patients because each one is unique. I am trusted and looked to for guidance with private concerns, and that makes me feel very honored."

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends vacationing, watching movies, and biking. She is also a certified medical examiner for Department of Transportation physicals.
