Vishal Khemlani, MD

Vishal Khemlani, MD, is a board-certified interventional pain management physician and anesthesiologist who specializes in innovative and minimally invasive treatments to treat chronic pain. At Columbia Pain Management, with locations in Milwaukie and Beaverton / Portland, Oregon, Dr. Khemlani is passionate about offering patients solutions to the issues that bother them most by focusing on the source of their pain and not just their symptoms. 
A native to the Northwest, Dr. Khemlani grew up in Beaverton, Oregon. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oregon State University where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry and Spanish. He then earned his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Khemlani completed his residency in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at University of California Irvine before completing a fellowship at University of California Los Angeles in Comprehensive and Interventional Pain Management. The appeal of family and fresh air lured Dr. Khemlani and his growing family back up to Oregon where he has been in private practice ever since. 
Dr. Khemlani is passionate about sustainable treatments that can offer patients long-term benefits without undergoing risky or invasive procedures. He has specific interests in treating patients who suffer from spine-related problems, like spinal stenosis or narrowing in the spinal canal. He is a leader in the field of minimally invasive spine treatments that address the underlying problem utilizing the least invasive approach. These procedures help patients avoid general anesthesia, do not affect the integrity of their spine and often patients are back on their feet within 24 hours. 
He is also an expert in the field of neuromodulation, using advanced technology strategically applied to treat neuropathic pain like diabetic peripheral neuropathy or persistent sciatica. 
While he is skilled in the most advanced interventional techniques, Dr. Khemlani believes in using a multidisciplinary approach to treating patients, meaning he focuses on the patient as a whole and incorporates conservative therapies like physical therapy, exercise, yoga, diet modification and lifestyle changes to help patients reach their full potential. He enjoys creating individually tailored treatment plans catered to each patient and their particular situation. He works closely with physical therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturist, massage therapists and other healthcare providers in the community to offer patients the most comprehensive approach to resolving their problems.
