Shirley Patel, MD

Dr. Patel received her undergraduate degree in Biomedicine at the University of California at Riverside and received her Doctor of Medicine and Surgery at JJM Medical College in Karnataka, India. Dr. Patel completed her internship in Family Medicine at Beaver Falls Family Practice Residency program in Pennsylvania, and completed her residency at the East Carolina School of Medicine in Greenville. She cofounded Gamma Medical Imaging Services in Corona, California, then moved on to research at the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles. She later came to North Carolina and worked as a House Officer and Senior Resident for ECU before joining Physicians East. Dr. Patel is fluent in Spanish, has been involved in several special research efforts, and is board certified in both Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine. During her clinical practice, she completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona in 2017. This fellowship was crafted by Dr. Andrew Weil, MD. Dr. Patel spends her free time with her family enjoying swimming, outdoor activities, crafting and baking.
