Deeksha Mehta, MD is a member of Summit Health's Endocrinology team. Dr. Mehta diagnoses and treats a wide variety of conditions, including diabetes, thyroid diseases, thyroid cancer, obesity, osteoporosis, calcium disorders, hormonal disturbances such as PCOS, pituitary and adrenal diseases.<br />

Since childhood, Dr. Mehta has dreamed of becoming a doctor. “The idea of helping people was always attractive,” she says. “As a doctor now, seeing people get better under my care is a truly gratifying experience.”<br />

Dr. Mehta is a firm believer in personalized medicine that also considers the social situation of each individual. She always includes patients in the decision-making portion of their care as it offers reassurance and compassion, builds trust, and most importantly, increases treatment compliance which greatly benefits the patient. Passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle, Dr. Mehta considers healthy eating, exercise, and sleep hygiene critical components to overall well-being stating, “Many endocrine disorders like diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia and their subsequent complications sprout from an unhealthy lifestyle.”<br />

Dr. Mehta’s research accomplishments and published works are many and cover topics, including thyroid nodule management, Plasmapheresis in resistant Graves disease, central regulation of glucose production, and complications of long-term bisphosphonate therapy for osteoporosis. Dr. Mehta is a recipient of an Outstanding Abstract Award at the 2011 Endocrine Society Meeting. She is a member of American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society.<br />

When not working with patients, Dr. Mehta loves spending time with her family, travelling, playing board games, and listening to music.
