Robert Fuhrman

In addition to his position at Summit Health, Robert A. Fuhrman, MD, FACP, FACE, is Attending Physician in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey.<br />

Before joining Summit Health, Dr. Fuhrman practiced with Paramount Medical Group/Endocrine Metabolic Associates in Westfield, New Jersey. He has been Chief of Medicine and Chief in the Department of Medicine Endocrinology Section at Overlook Medical Center. He also has been an endocrinology consultant for Children's Specialized Hospital and a member of the Overlook Medical Center internal medicine staff.<br />

Dr. Fuhrman has been Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Medical School and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.<br />

Dr. Fuhrman is Former President and a life director of the American Diabetes Association New Jersey Affiliate. He is Former Medical Director and Chairman of the Board of Camp Nejeda and the Camp Nejeda Foundation, which serves children with diabetes. He is Past President and a member of the Union County Medical Society Executive Committee, Past New Jersey State Chairman of the American Medical Association Organized Medical Staff Section, and Former President of the Jewish Community Center of Central New Jersey. He has been a board member of the Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey, Jewish Family Services Agency, and Temple Emanu-El of Westfield. Dr. Fuhrman is a fellow of the Endocrine Society and American College of Endocrinology. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association and New Jersey Motor Vehicle Bureau Diabetes Advisory Board.<br />

Dr. Fuhrman is a recipient of more than 22 honors and awards, including the John J. Sheinin, MD, Meritorious Award, Mount Sinai School of Medicine Solomon A. Silver Award, and American Medical Association Physician Achievement Award. For more than 10 years, he has been featured in the Castle Connolly “Top Doctors in the New York Metropolitan Area" and Castle Connolly "America's Top Doctors" listings. His Castle Connolly listings have been reprinted in US News and World Report and Inside Jersey.<br />
