Jeffrey Okun

Jeffrey Okun, MD is a member of Summit Health's Gastroenterology department. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Okun is an accomplished researcher with several academic publications. As a researcher at Columbia University Medical Center, he studied outcomes related to liver and lung transplantation. He has sat on education and curriculum committees as a fellow at Montefiore Medical Center and served as a member of the Fellow's Committee of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.<br />

Dr. Okun is a member of several professional societies: the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association, and the American Medical Association.<br />

Dr. Okun treats a wide array of gastrointestinal and liver diseases, with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease. His approach to care is to develop a partnership with his patients and to make sure all involved are comfortable with a treatment plan. He adheres to the philosophy of treating an individual, not just a medical condition. While not seeing patients, Dr. Okun enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, biking, and traveling.
