Shahzad Ahmed, MD

Originally from Connecticut, Shahzad Ahmed M.D., earned his undergraduate degree with honors in neuroscience from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. While in medical school, he was awarded the Wellsford and Mildred Clark Medical Memorial Scholarship and was recognized with honors for his service and scholarship. He then attended Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California where he completed a residency in internal medicine and he completed a clinical nutrition fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Ahmed completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. During this time, he served on several committees and completed specialized training in inflammatory bowel disease while visiting Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Ahmed is a board-certified physician specializing in gastroenterology and hepatology. He has a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, clinical nutrition and liver diseases. He is passionate about helping patients achieve the best possible quality of life through excellent clinical care. Dr. Ahmed performs standard procedures such as EGD/Upper endoscopy and colonoscopy as well as specialized procedures in GI including motility (esophageal manometry) and reflux (Bravo pH monitoring) testing. He also offers office based treatment of internal hemorrhoids (hemorrhoid banding). In his spare time, Dr. Ahmed enjoys hiking, reading, following sports and spending time with his young family.
