Seeing mostly adult patients, Dr. Reserva will focus his practice on the screening, surveillance and management of skin cancer, as well as the treatment of acne, acne scars, psoriasis and eczema. He is well-trained in using a dermatoscope, a special magnifying glass that enables dermatologists to identify skin cancer at its earliest stages while minimizing unnecessary biopsy removal of benign lesions. As an author of several book chapters and journal articles on chemical peels, Dr. Reserva is excited to offer chemical peel treatments, in addition to other cosmetic procedures, as part of a comprehensive skin aesthetics program.Additionally, Dr. Reserva has a special interest in treating patients of skin of color, including those suffering from dyschromia (skin discoloration). "Certain skin conditions are more prevalent in skin of color, and these skin conditions can present a little differently," he says, adding that these differences, if not recognized, may lead to delayed diagnoses or ineffective treatment. He wants to inform our central Illinois minority communities that he and his dermatology colleagues at Springfield Clinic take these ethnic skin variations into consideration to ensure the best clinical and aesthetic patient outcomes.
