About Us
John Rivas, MD, is a triple board-certified gastroenterologist and founder of Rivas Digestive Center in Hollywood, Florida. Dr. Rivas and the team are committed to offering comprehensive, patient-centered gastrointestinal care with the highest level of professionalism, quality, and care.
Dr. Rivas graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He completed his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, graduating with the highest honors. Dr. Rivas returned to Florida to complete his internal medicine residency at the Florida campus of the Cleveland Clinic and was given the Chief Resident Award. 
To further his training, Dr. Rivas completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Cleveland Clinic Florida, and a subsequent fellowship in advanced transplant hepatology at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. After his training, Dr. Rivas returned to Cleveland Clinic Florida, and served as a staff gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist in the abdominal transplantation department in 2014. 
Rivas Digestive Center is a culmination of Dr. Rivas’ vast experience in gastroenterology and endoscopy. He offers his specialized training and expertise in various areas of gastrointestinal conditions, including celiac disease, GERD, hepatitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and more. Rivas Digestive Center also offers colon cancer screenings and colonoscopies, and the comfort of a team that’s ready to personalize treatment to each patient and their individual needs.
