Avalon Diner

In July 1938, the Griner family opened Avalon Drug Company and Diner on the corner of Westheimer and Kirby, and became a Houston tradition that stands strong to this day. In 1992, Coy and Bambi Lynn Ramsey became the third family to own and operate Avalon diner. Avalon has seen generation after generation grow up through the years, and has created a sense of community, personal service, and family when you walk through the doors.

After 55 years in its original location, the drug store & diner relocated to 2417 Westheimer in 1993. The move included separating the businesses with a common door to operate side by side. In August of 2008 Bill Morris, drug store owner, retired after 36 years and the drug store closed with much fanfare and sweet sorrow in the community. Avalon Diner is now standing alone proudly serving the River Oaks community for over 80 years.

Over the years, Avalon has grown and opened three more locations in the Houston area. Avalon Diner could not be what is today without a tremendous staff and an outstanding customer base. We look forward too many more
