The clamp, as shown below, comes delivered with foam rubber liners, which are attached by "VELCRO" strips and can easily be removed for cleaning (with soap and water), or for replacing by new ones when they become too unsightly or too far compressed after prolonged usage.

One set of replacement strips is included in the first shipment of a clamp. More liners are available in six-packs as regular or extra soft editions.

The two legs of the clamp apply closing pressure to the penis by a stainless steel spring. That pressure is sufficient in most patients to close the urethra to a point where urine leakage is prevented, but can, in special cases, be increased by placing one or two of the supplied wedges under the ends of the spring.

Usually, the patient does not even feel that he is wearing this device, there are no metal parts protruding or sharp corners that could poke the patient into adjacent body parts, but in rare cases, the contact between the foam rubber liners and the skin of the penis might feel uncomfortable. In that case, it is recommended to use a single sheet of toilet paper, folded in half, and placed as insulation around the penis and under the clamp.
