After 15 years of service as a classroom teacher, Allen founded Tutors of Marin to help students of all ages attain academic, social, and organizational skills they need to achieve their life goals. Allen’s educational approach stems from his belief that all humans possess complete competence, limitless potential, and the innate ability to construct their own meaning of their experiences. Therefore, he helps his students meet their goals by building on their questions and interests, engaging them in problem solving and critical thinking, and applying those skills to real-life situations. His main focus as a tutor is to provide such learning experiences by tailoring instruction to each child’s individual strengths and learning styles.
