Steve Atlas, OD, is an optometrist with over 30 years of experience. He leads the team at Atlas Eye Center and Downtown Opticians in Plantation and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, specializing in comprehensive eye exams, contact lenses, and treatment of common ocular diseases.
Dr. Atlas earned his Bachelor of Science in 1974 from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. Following his undergraduate education, he attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. He graduated with his Doctor of Optometry in 1978.
While in optometry school, Dr. Atlas researched visual rehabilitation and took a special interest in the field of contact lenses. After graduating, he completed an internship in South Florida and has practiced in the state ever since.
Atlas Eye Center and Downtown Opticians serve people of all ages, offering comprehensive eye care services and custom eyewear. Dr. Atlas understands that every person’s needs are unique when it comes to eye care. He takes the time to connect with his patients and is proud to develop long-term relationships that can last decades.
Dr. Atlas is a member of the Broward County Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and traveling.
