Joint Preservation Institute of Iowa: Richard Goding, MD

Richard Goding, MD, is a leading orthopedic surgeon practicing joint preservation techniques to help patients maintain active and healthy lives. At the Joint Preservation Institute of Iowa in West Des Moines and Corydon, Iowa, he uses innovative treatments, including stem cells, subchondroplasty, and superior capsular reconstruction, to repair and restore joints. When necessary, he offers joint replacement surgery, including total knee replacements.
Dr. Goding earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington DC. He served a surgical internship at the University of Hawaii’s Integrated Surgical Program in Honolulu. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center New York-Brooklyn and Queens in New York City, he continued his training by completing the Sydney AO Foot and Ankle Fellowship in Sydney, Australia, and a shoulder and knee fellowship at the Perth Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Centre in Perth, Australia.
Dr. Goding is a leader in the field of joint preservation and provides state-of-the-art treatments to help patients living with knee pain, shoulder pain, and arthritis. He has developed modifications of superior capsular reconstruction techniques and produces peer-reviewed research in joint preservation and farm and labor medicine.
Away from his practice, Dr. Goding spends time with his wife and two daughters, engaging with their community, and enjoying everything that Iowa has to offer.
