Chukwuemeka Onyewu, MD, is one of the nation’s leading plastic and reconstructive surgeons. The “real Dr. O,” Dr. Onyewu is a seasoned professional and a board-certified plastic surgeon who has performed thousands of procedures on men and women who want to enhance their beauty, correct defects, and improve function.
Dr. Onyewu graduated cum laude from Boston University at the age of 19 and went on to attend Boston University School of Medicine as a Commonwealth Scholar. He completed his general surgery residency under Dr. Lasalle D. Leffall, Jr., at Howard University Hospital, where he earned both the intern of the year and chief resident of the year awards. He completed Plastic Surgery fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital under the direction of Dr. Scott Spear, a former president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Onyewu offers comprehensive plastic surgery services but has a special interest in body sculpting with liposuction, fat transfers, as well as breast surgeries, including augmentations, reductions, lifts, and reconstruction. He is also passionate about helping out those in need and co-founded the Sustainable International Medical Missions (SIMMS) as a result. This non-profit organization has completed more than 29 free medical missions in Africa, in countries like Sudan, Cameroon, and Nigeria.
