There are many reasons for rebuilding your chimney. Most commonly, because it’s leaning badly and could potentially fall either into the home or even the neighbors if neglected much longer. We also rebuild chimneys that aren’t leaning but have sandy and or “dusty” mortar joints. To put a 20-year warranty on a tuckpoint, we must have an adequate amount of structurally sound, existing mortar to adhere to; when we no longer can adhere to the existing joints, it calls for a rebuild.
