Derek M. Edwards

Derek M. Edwards, MSLM, PMP, is a Senior Program Manager who teaches Project Management courses for the Center for Professional Education (CPE) at UT Austin. His experience spans more than 18 years in project and program management in the defense industry, 14 of which focused on turning around poor performing projects. Edwards has 20 years of process improvement experience where he implemented improvements as an officer in the United States Air Force as well as in the freight, alarm, defense and innovative online learning industries. His breadth of experience has ranged from managing multiple projects at any one time with contract values of less than $250K to development projects in excess of $40M.

As a project manager develops skills, knowledge, and experience through years of hard work. After becoming a consultant, I can offer that hard-won experience and skill to others. As a Consultant I am in charge of scheduling their own time, and setting their own rates.
