He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Dr. Chatrathi also completed a fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.  He holds board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.
