Tucked in the foot hills of the Taos Mountains and surrounded by acres of aromatic sage, stands Casa Bella, the original casa of the Premiere Properties vacation rental homes. When Paulette Jacobs bought it, she didn’t realize it would be the first of the upscale Taos vacation rental homes.

Using a small inheritance from her parents, she purchased the Taos adobe and its casita (guest house) because of its breathtaking views of the mountains—and also thinking her parents would rather she made an investment than travel it away. She wanted to live the artistic Taos lifestyle and retire from her former careers as a home economics teacher, realtor, mother, and director of housing at a mental health center.

Paulette began her new life by stringing beads and renting out Casa Bella to happy vacationers. She soon learned that Casa Bella’s ambiance quickly made it one of the most desirable vacation homes in the Taos area.

As Casa Bella’s occupancy increased, vacationers began to ask her if she could find other homes with the Taos flavor to fill their personal vacation needs. Within a year, Paulette had a small stable of upscale properties

The property management business fell into her lap full of beads. Several small companies looked to her for her organizational skills and management expertise. She acquired the original Premiere Properties with 12 vacation rental homes in 1999 and combined it with her small group of vacation rentals. She implemented her own unique business approach which focuses on individualized personal caretaking for each special home and builds reservations through excellent service. “If it’s better cared for; it’s better booked.”

After two years, Premiere had grown substantially and Paulette decided to leave the bead stringing profession to focus on completely on Premiere.

Her business grew rapidly and she realized that she either needed to sell or find a partner that shared her vision. Paulette asked her daughter Heather, an accounting major at University of California in San Diego, to join her as a partner. Heather became Premiere’s Qualifying Broker and the mother/daughter team came to own and manage Premiere Properties Vacation Rentals and Management, LLC.

Currently, Premiere has over one hundred properties located in the greater Taos area, twenty independent caretakers, forty housekeepers and five reservation agents manning the phones. All are committed to maintaining beautiful upscale homes, excellent service, and providing the ultimate vacation lodging experience. The mother/daughter team has gained the indisputable reputation of being the “Best in Taos.”
