Dr. Maria Castilla was born in Bogota, Colombia and grew up in Tampa. She graduated magna cum lade with a degree in Chemical Sciences from Florida State University in 2004 and also obtained her medical degree there in 2009. She attended residency at Carilion Clinic-Virginia Tech in Roanoke, Virginia where her interest in robotic surgery first started. Dr. Castilla is board certified and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is fully fluent in Spanish and has spent time in Honduras and El Salvador on medical missions. She enjoys combining traveling with her passion to provide medical care to those most in need.
